Kendari Pos merajai rimba informasi faktual di Sulawesi Tenggara dengan kerja keras dan semangat kebersamaan. Tetap eksis di tengah virus pesimisme tumbuh subur dikalangan publik.

Telah berpuluh tahun Harian Kendari Pos tekun menggeluti semesta kabar, informasi, jurnalisme dan media. Dalam rentang waktu tersebut Kendari Pos telah menelurkan ide-ide kreatif dalam menunjang pembangunan daerah. Pun, telah melakoni pelbagai peran dalam mempromosikan kebijakan serta program pemerintah daerah dan turut menyambung aspirasi masyarakat.

Menggenapi usia dewasa dalam hitungan anak manusia, Kendari Pos merangsek ke pusat jagat industri media lokal dengan lelah dan peluh yang tidak sedikit. Tidaklah mudah mempertahankan eksistensi ditengah desakkan zaman yang semakin disruptif pada segala lini kehidupan. Kerja keras, kebersamaan dan totalitas selalu disumbangkan segenap jajaran Kendari Pos untuk merespon segala tantangan.

Menyimak sepak terjang Kendari Pos menjadi portal media terbesar rujukan publik tak luput dari drama ketika berurusan dengan hambatan pada pertengahan 1970-an. Bittikaka bersaudara sebagai arsitek pertama menerbitkan Media Karya. Cikal bakal Kendari Pos masa kini.

Seiring perjalanannya, sebagai koran nasional yang berbasis di daerah, tantangan hadir bertubi- tubi. Mulai dari oplah yang rendah, profit tidak sesuai ekspektasi, SDM kurang memadai dan segala keterbatasan fasilitas lainnya. Beberapa kelemahan itu kemudian menyergap pemikiran P.P. Bittikaka sebelum ia bertemu H.M. Alwi Hamu yang saat itu menjabat sebagai Ketua Bawas dan Pengembangan Anak Perusahaan Jawa Pos Media Group yang berbasis di Makassar.

Pertemuan itu atas saran dari Dahlan Iskan yang menjabat sebagai Dirut Jawa Pos kala itu. Pertemuan tersebut menghadirkan sejumlah terobosan. Setelah itulah kemudian Media Karya menjelma Kendari Pos. Bermarkas di gedung lancip Graha Pena.

Kini, Era digital memberi ancaman baru. Transformasi media informasi yang beralih ke media berbasis website menumbuhkan pesimisme berbagai kalangan akan kelangsungan hidup koran. Preferensi publik lebih memilih media daring (online) dalam mengakses informasi telah terjawab dengan hadirnya kendaripos.co.id.

Tak berhenti sampai disitu, Kendari Pos juga hadir dalam bentuk digital. Dikemas ciamik dalam bentuk epaper. Platform online memenuhi kebutuhan publik akan derasnya arus informasi yang membanjiri ruang publik, epaper memberikan kepraktisan dalam mencari informasi dan versi cetak memberikan keutuhan informasi dan menyuguhkan kedalaman berita.

Chairman sekaligus salah seorang pendiri Kendari Pos, HM Alwi Hamu selalu berpesan agar karyawan Kendari Pos tetap kompak dan tumbuh bersama dalam kebersamaan. “Selamat HUT Kendari Pos. Mohon maaf saya tak dapat membersamai kalian tahun ini. Tetap rajin dan bekerja baik-baik karena hasil yang kalian kerjakan untuk seluruh karyawan Kendari Pos,” ujar CEO Fajar Grup melalui sambungan video call Whatsapp, beberapa waktu lalu dalam seremoni anniversary Kendari Pos.

Lecutan semangat dari bapak Alwi Hamu meningkatkan moral kerja karyawan. Membuahkan hasil. Senti demi senti reputasi Kendari Pos meningkat. Sederat apresiasi level nasional diraih. Sebut saja IPMA, sebuah reputasi pada bidang print media. Telah diraih selaman 6 tahun berturut-turut. Penghargaan Indonesia Print Media Award diperoleh Kendari Pos dengan membawa metafora bahwa konten yang baik harus didukung desain perwajahan yang memukau.

Sejak Irwan Zainuddin memimpin Kendari Pos sebagai direktur utama, kemasan dan arah pemberitaan Kendari Pos jauh berbeda. Tagline Tuntas Memberitakan dikemas menjadi Santun dan Menginspirasi.

Tagline itu selaras dengan perubahan paradigma pemberitaan yang semula bad news is good news menjadi good news is the best news. “Mengapa harus mencari aib jika banyak prestasi yang bisa diberitakan,” ujarnya dalam sebuah kesempatan.
